When contacted, Nagpal said: “Yes, I’ll be moving to Vodafone UK in August. Kumar Ramanathan, who is currently heading Vodafone Essar’s South India operations, will take over as the chief marketing officer.”

Nagpal has been with Vodafone Essar since 2001, when the company functioned as Hutchison Max Telecom and offered services under the Orange brand. He will be remembered as a marketing head who changed the definition of advertising in the telecom space.

During his tenure, Vodafone launched some of the most successful and memorable campaigns including the rebranding from Hutch to Vodafone “Happy to Help” campaign that featured the Vodafone pug with a girl. His parting gift has been the much-loved “Zoozoo” campaign that ran during the IPL2 tournament that has just concluded in South Africa.

Nagpal has over 24 years of experience in sales and marketing. He had earlier worked with companies like Lakme, Marico, Pepsi and Shoppers’ Stop. Within Vodafone, he has shifted between operations and marketing functions on two occasions.
