Comutanet, AirMediaJOHANNESBURG: ComutaNet, South Africa's #1 authority on the commuter market, has announced the cementing of a strategic alliance with AirMedia that will significantly increase the media owner's reach into the LSM 4-7 market.

Win-win alliance AirMedia is the industry leader in providing digital on-site radio and television services in Southern Africa to more than 1200 sites. AirMedia has delivered these services to the EdconGroup for more than 10 years. The alliance between the two companies will allow ComutaNet an advertising channel into the Edcon Discount Division stores, mainly through its Jet and JetMart stores. This is in addition to ComutaNet's already powerful arsenal: including Rank TV, Comuta Radio, taxi branding, bus branding, rank branding, billboards and BrandMarks.

Massive reach While ComutaNet's clients have traditionally benefited from the company's penetration into the commuter market, with a massive weekly audience base of 23.6 million and a 'captive' audience during peak travel times, the securing of the alliance with AirMedia gives them a new opportunity for in-store TV and radio advertising across 450 Jet and JetMart stores. This alliance will see a weighty increase in both audience numbers and the length of time consumers will be exposed to brand messaging.

Garry RogersThe deal means that for the first time, 3rd party advertisers will be given the opportunity to advertise in 450 stores with more than 550 television screens and over the airwaves on the massively popular Jet FM radio in these stores. "With over two million Jet customers conducting a million transactions per month, this is big news for our existing and potential client base", said Garry Rogers, sales and marketing executive, ComutaNet.

"Our core focus remains on the LSM 4-7 market and through strategic alliances we will continue to pave the way and bolster our number one position within the commuter market."

"It is our intention to continue evolving our product offering, ensuring that clients have access to the best and most effective avenues for reaching this country's biggest consumer market. The alliance with AirMedia is not only a logical extension in terms of our product offering but also in delivering even more engaged, qualified buyers to market."

"The commuter market boasts an annual spend value of R394bn, making it an extremely attractive option for marketers. Added to this, when one considers that Jet discount division stores with their near R 10 billion per annum turnover see highly impressive patronage and sales mainly during lunch times and over weekends, we certainly are delivering qualified buyers", concluded Rogers.

AirMediaPaul Anthony, director at Airmedia concluded, "AirMedia chose ComutaNet as they are also targeting advertisers in the 4-7 LSM markets and we believe that this Alliance is a good fit for all parties concerned – from the organisations involved to consumers and of course advertisers."
